We now have a new Rector with excellency in all respects. He is very friendly and easy to talk with. The University of Macau (UM) is now doing some reformation and promoting new policies, and is expanding. We urgently need excellent people to be in leadership positions. Academically we have excellent scholars in terms of quality in a number of areas, and we need to increase them in quantity. Our salary scales are comparable with (or higher) than Taiwan, US and Japan and we have 14 months of salary per year. The terms of employment are being extended longer than before. We have medical insurance covering almost everything for the staff members as well as family members. UM is an international university with teachers coming from all over the world. Besides foreigner teachers, we have a great number of teachers receiving education and research training overseas, and choosing UM as their home and stage for career development.
